UK Open 2010
Soo ..
) We have been off to London; we took part in this year’s UK Open in London. Idriz became a Level 1 Arbiter and I competed.
Even though the weather wasn’t that nice at all, competition was great. The room was quiet and big, there was enough space for all the 14 competitors and we actually were on time. It was probably one of the best venues I’ve been too. And after 6 years of international competing, I’ve seen a lot of venues. At the end of two days I became third and I even won the Speed Cards discipline. In the disciplines “Binary Digits” and “Spoken Numbers” I became second. And I took the third place in the disciplines “Random Words”, “Names and Faces” and “30 Minute Numbers”.
Small memory tournaments, like UK Open or the Swedish Open, are good tournaments to get some experience. For beginners, it is a nice place to get in touch with the people and to get used to the feeling of competition. I like to go to small competitions, I like the atmosphere there.
Idriz also tried the Zogaj game on some of the world best’s mnemonists, just as Ben Pridmore or Boris Konrad. They both liked it and after a hard day of competition they still achieved great scores. Konstantin Skudler, an 11-year-old German boy, who also competes, couldn’t stop playing the game.
Now we are preparing for the Swedish Memory Championships. It’s just four weeks left and I am really looking forward to it. We’re going to have a great competition and participants from at least 5 countries.
